What are some of this molds characteristics? Grows well on general cellulose surfaces but spores may take special nutrients to develop or may be completely absent.
Where does it grow outside? Often found growing in soil, dead herbaceous stems, wood, grasses, sugar beet root, groundnuts and oats.
Where does it grow inside? Grows indoors on cellulose containing materials such as jute, old sacking, wicker, straw baskets, wood, and paper.
Is this "black mold"? The term black mold (also "toxic black mold") is not scientific but is widely used by the media to usually reference Stachybotrys molds.
